Fragment 8 - Enhancing online presence

In job hunting I find it important to have a large online network that will remember me if they have a relevant job and trust me enough to contact me. I used online business networks and blogging to try to enhance my online presence.

For me Linkedin and xing are tools to keep track of people that I have already had a business relation with. So it has taken a long time to build up my networks there, and they grow slowly.

Both the technical platform and the culture at Ecademy support connecting to people you do not know. However the code of conduct of Ecademy also says that you should build a trusted relationship to a contact before you start selling something, in my case myself. So I used time connecting with people I had something in common without knowing whether it would help me in my job hunting. Another assumption in Ecademy is that you do not know in advance what a contact will bring. So perhaps my time used here will pay off some time in the future.

In the Ecademy and the Internations network I was attending offline meetings. This also proved to be a way to enhance my online presence because I was connecting online to the people I met and some of them even made recommendations for me at my profile.

People who read your blog will tend to look at your profile and perhaps remember you. Therefore I also used time blogging on Ecademy's blogging section. This way I got some interesting chats with interesting people, and perhaps some of them will remember me. I hope that this blog will also enhance my online presence.
