I view my online network as people I have only met online and my offline network as people I have also met face-to-face. In my opinion meeting people face-to-face is a necessary step if you want to build trust that can lead to business, in my case a job. Here you have a couple of examples of how I was transferring my online network to offline network:
Ecademy is an online network that stresses the importance of meeting offline. Therefore there are national clubs with local meetings. I attended the Ecademy Christmas lunch in Copenhagen. Here the founders of Ecademy made presentations about networking and how to get the most out of Ecademy. It was a very nice and interesting evening where I had the opportunity to meet people from 6 countries. You never know what the outcome of that will be.
Internations is a network for expats and global minds, a target group very relevant in connection with my wish to get an expat job. I was attending a wine tasting in Copenhagen where people from 10 nations were present. It was a very nice evening where I met interesting people, and you never know what comes out of it.
Meetup.com is an online site with the purpose of arranging offline meetings. By entering location or interest you get a list of relevant meetings. So using this site you can expand your offline network. It seems like a good concept but I have not had the opportunity to try it out.
